If the rat race is getting too much, which for most of us it often is, maybe it’s time to get out of town and relax for a while
Head out of Melbourne into the beautiful Yarra Valley where wine is in plentiful supply, people greet you on the street, and tomorrow probably means next Thursday – but then slowing down a bit is just what we all need every now and again.
The Woodlands Rainforest Retreat is nestled among the tall trees that typify Narbethong – a small settlement located along the Maroondah Highway. Approaching Woodlands, one quickly realises that peace and quiet are in abundance in this part of the world, and if a genuine getaway is what you’re looking for then you’ve definitely come to the right place.
There are four separate bungalows available here, and they all blend splendidly into the surrounding forest – feeling as though they are almost a part of nature themselves. Staying in the beautiful wooden cottages makes you feel entirely at home with the local flora and fauna, and the only noticeable neighbours are the surrounding wildlife. Frequent visitors are the cheeky parrots who regularly pop up on the back decking investigating the newest guests.
One outstanding feature of these bungalows is the sunken spa room, which has large windows looking out directly onto the natural beauty of the forest, allowing guests to enjoy a therapeutic massaging spa bath while feeling like they are completely surrounded by the woods – and if you do need to get out and grab another glass of wine, the heated floor is a delightfully decadent feature.
Woodlands Rainforest Retreat is the perfect place to just get away from it all and find yourself a well-deserved moment of sedate seclusion in one of the Yarra Valley’s most idyllic locations. It’s a getaway that will leave even the most stressed-out workaholics feeling fully relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to get back to the hustle and bustle that comprises our everyday lives.
