Above one of Melbourne’s longest standing venues, Curtin House, overlooking the hustle and bustle of the CBD, returns one of Melbourne’s most anticipated events of summer. The renowned Rooftop Cinema hosts hundreds of avid moviegoers and social butterflies over four months each year, and returns again in 2013/14. This time around, with an exciting new feature on offer.

Famous for showcasing movie classics as well as recent releases and blockbuster hits, the Rooftop Cinema will continue to dish up crowd favourites this year. Screenings commence at 9:30pm, allowing attendees to enjoy a tipple or two the adjacent bar prior. From midday onwards, reserve your spot at the Rooftop Bar, just metres from the 160 deck chairs that line the lawn above Curtin House. Kick back at one of Melbourne’s most familiar watering holes, which serves drinks throughout the film and afterwards until 1:00am.

If you fancy a bite to eat to accompany your viewing experience, the All Day Burger Bar has you covered. Serving up fresh snacks and sliders until 9:00pm, the All Day Burger Bar is there to keep your appetite in check – just be sure to place your order before the movie commences. If you’re after more of a restaurant vibe, you could always enjoy some tacos and tequilas from Mexican joint Mesa Verde, located on the sixth floor of Curtin House. Choose to dine either before or after the movie, as they offer late night dining.

This season, along with anticipated new films, including The Great Gatsby, Django Unchained and classics such as Pulp Fiction and Stand By Me, be prepared for a new taste of Hollywood to hit the rooftop screen: Speakeasy Cinema. Previously screened in galleries, warehouses and various bars throughout Melbourne, Rooftop Cinema will now feature Speakeasy Cinema hits such as David Lynch’s cult flick, Twin Peaks, and Girls’ writer, Lena Dunham’s, Tiny Furniture. Appreciate a different side of Hollywood at one of the Speakeasy Cinema Selects sessions at Rooftop Cinema held every Tuesday evening.
