Whether you’re in Sydney on holiday, business or just passing through, you can’t go past The Langham for a luxurious experience
Established in 2012, The Langham Sydney has just recently re-opened its doors after a $30-million-dollar refurbishment and the level of quality and sophistication is truly breathtaking. Every single piece of furniture was exclusively hand designed in London and the finer details throughout the hotel are finished to the highest standard. Everything is top-end luxury, from the Waterford crystal glassware to the Kate Spade and Wedgwood pieces in all of the suites.
The hotel now boasts a million-dollar Sotheby’s art collection and a multi-million-dollar spa. The owners and management are hoping the remarkable transformation will enable The Langham Sydney to claim the title as Australia’s most luxurious hotel.
For the ultimate luxury afternoon in Sydney hit the shops in the morning and then head straight to The Langham for some pampering. Lunch at the Kent Street Kitchen will start you off on the right track. Head chef Daniel Rudolph has created a gorgeous menu of modern cuisine in the hotel’s signature restaurant. The stunning décor will have you thinking you’ve stepped out in Paris for lunch. The wait staff are highly trained and lovely to deal with, while your sommelier will gladly walk you through the extensive wine list.
Once you’ve finished, head down stairs for a spa treatment or two. The gorgeous Day Spa is set around the indoor pool and you can indulge in an express manicure or pedicure poolside using organically sourced products from the Blue Mountains. If you are after a longer treatment, the spa menu is extensive and there are 10 brand new rooms. You’ll really be treated, with the practitioners using opulent products from French brand Babor in all body and facial treatments.
To end you day, head back up stairs to the Palm Court Bar for a cocktail served by a European mixologist and enjoy some jazz music from 5pm. If you prefer something more low key, Palm Court has a beautiful tea room overlooking the Western Harbour, which serves Afternoon Tea in Wedgwood fine tableware every day.
You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to gain access to any of these stunning areas so next time you’re in Sydney do yourself a favour and save some time for The Langham.
