Appease your inner spy with this 007-style jetpack experience
While fully submerged underwater, point your jets upwards and roar towards the surface. Blast out of the water and soar to the height of a three-storey building, then change direction and fly off at 25km an hour.
You’ve just pulled off your first duck-dive manoeuvre and the adrenaline is coursing through your veins.
This is the experience waiting for you at Jetpack Adventures on the Gold Coast.
Just short of laser beams and shoe phones, these water-propelled jetpacks are seriously cool. Once reserved for the rich and famous, Jetpack Adventures makes them available to everyone. And the stunning Budds Beach sets the scene perfectly, as you zoom past mansions and super yachts.
After a brief induction and some pointers, you’re ready to head out into the water and give it a crack.
Like a lot of adventure sports, it takes some time to master. But once you get the hang of the pack, you’re sure to have the time of your life.
Before long, you’ll feel unstoppable – pulling off aerial manoeuvres, duck dives and going hands free.
As you zip through the air, your instructor will coach you from the beach via a helmet radio – 007-style. By adjusting the handles and using body movements, you can zoom around at your leisure. It’s a truly surreal experience.
After having a go with the jetpack, you can even take the flyboard out for a spin. This is the only place in the Southern Hemisphere where you can try both a jetpack and flyboard.
Two powerful jets of water shoot out from the flyboard under your feet and thrust you into the air. As you ‘surf’ the jet streams and try to balance in the sky, prepare to have a few spills – it’s all part of the fun.
You’ll touch back down on the shore after about an hour and a half of adrenaline-pumping fun.
From double agents to adventure lovers, this is definitely one for the bucket list.
