THE HEALTHY CHEF: TERESA CUTTER

In anticipation of the 2014 Fitness Show NSW held at the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park on October 18 and 19, we chat to The Healthy Chef, Teresa Cutter.

Teresa

Teresa Cutter is one of Australia’s leading authorities on healthy cooking and the founder of The Healthy Chef, a company that creates purely delicious functional foods for optimum health and wellbeing.

“We use organic and natural wholefoods and pride ourselves on developing quality that will inspire a deeper commitment to healthy living,” says Teresa. “A change in diet can bring about a change in health”

Teresa is a qualified chef of over 25 years, having worked and trained with some of the best chefs and restaurants in the country. To complement her training, Teresa also studied nutrition at Deakin University and became an internationally accredited fitness trainer with the Fitness Institute of Australia.

She has combined her diverse knowledge of food, cooking, diet and exercise to develop her recipes and functional food products to help promote optimum health and wellbeing. Dedicated to improving people’s health and wellbeing through the food choices they make and how they cook, Teresa believes food, like life, is to be savoured.

Her popular protein power balls (http://www.thehealthychef.com/2011/09/protein-power-balls/) are a great source of complete protein and contain all the essential amino acids needed for a healthy immune system.

The recipe is a simplified version of the one in her 80/20 cookbook, and only takes five minutes to make. “I normally make up a batch at the beginning of the week because it’s a fantastic grab-and-go snack or mini power meal if I’m rushing around or to satisfy any sugar cravings when the four o’clock munchies hit,” she says.

“They’re also a good source of vitamin E and minerals as they’re pack with almonds and fresh dates.” Cinnamon adds a great flavour and helps stabilise blood sugar levels. If you can’t have nuts, grind sunflower, pumpkin and linseeds and throw them in the mix in the place of the almonds.
