Learn the skills that could save a child’s life.

When it comes to our children, safety is so much more important than we ever previously thought. Prior to having kids, looking after kids or working with kids, you may have thought CPR and first aid was just something that someone else, someone qualified would have to handle. But if you are a care-giver to a little person or a baby, then knowing CPR and first aid may be the difference between life and death.

If you’ve previously done a general first aid course, then that’s an excellent step in the right direction, however they can be very different from what you need to do in an emergency involving a young child or a baby. This is where CPR Kids comes in – the accredited nurses and instructors come to you and teach you how to not only deal with a child who is unconscious and needing urgent attention, but how to resuscitate them until a medical expert arrives to take over.

The focus CPR Kids takes is to teach care-givers, parents, family and educators how to adequately use breaths and compressions on a non-responsive child. The instructors give clear examples and go through each step of the DRSABCD resuscitation guide before giving you practice time using child and baby mannequins.

While the thought of being the person giving a child this care may seem overwhelming, daunting and even scary, the instructors are friendly, understanding and comprehensive in the CPR Kids teaching. The best part about this mobile service is that they come to you. All that is needed is some space in your home, workplace or even school for the practical side of things and they do the rest.

The first aid portion of the lesson is very informative and the instructors give advice specific to your surroundings. They cover burns, cuts, head injuries, choking and poisons, which can all occur to a child, and how to help in a calm and effective way.

Overall, the course is incredibly informative and helpful – one that anyone involved with children should take.
